Don't Be Stingy - Come and Share Your House Cleaning Tips

Hello All

I have a plastic garbage bin in my kitchen. I always use a garbage bag in it but.... my last bag leaked, and now the plastic part stinks! I have washed it, bleached it, put in baking powder, and sprayed the heck out of it with febreeze. But, the odor seems to have "sunk" into the plastic and I can't get it out.

Anyone have any ideas for me? It was quite an expensive garbage pail, and I don't want to have to throw it out and get a new one.

Thanks!

Try it one more time or do this:
1.Hose down the can on a sunny day. Pour one gallon of water mixed with three cups of bleach into the rinsed trash can.
2.Agitate the bleach and water mixture in the can. Let it sit for one hour, stirring the bleach every ten minutes. Use a long-handled brush to scrub the sides of the can. Pour out the bleach and water. Be sure you scrub the lid as well.
3.Let the can and lid dry in a sunny spot. The ultraviolet light from the sun kills the odor-causing organisms.
Be sure to let the can dry before adding any new trash.
Great idea! I never thought of using the sun for that. I'll try it tomorrow morning, and give it an all day-chance to work.

Thanks!
