I don't know too much about this but I'll try with some pointers....
Look around your area ans check out the competition. See if there is room on the market for a cleaning business, or if it is saturated with cleaning businesses. this will tell you if there is a need for it.
In many communities, there are places that help you start your own business.... Check it out to see if there is one in your area. Failing that, there are tones of books on starting your own business... this will help you see what you have to do.
make sure your are bondable, and get bonded... I think this is the same in the US as it is in Canada. It basically says that you don't have a criminal record. Very important, as clients will want to know that they can trust you and that you won't steal anything. I seem to remember this is not too expensive.

Many people are cutting expenditures but when they need to run their own business, a cleaning business is a basic service they always keep.

Having been as Upholstery Cleaners in Queens, I have observed that starting this business is not a one day job. A thorough training and job orientation is required. One has to have basic analytical skills along with marketing skills and then only the person can sustain in this business. Bringing faith in client's mind is one big achievement.

I would recommend you try and examine successful carpet cleaning companies and their business plans. You could learn a lot from how other people got successful in this business. The first thing is to get investment, then use that investment carefully, get clients and then do a good job. I'd recommend you check out Rug Cleaning in Long Island for excellent business ideas!
